Why I Got Into Fitness

I started my exercise journey in middle school. My father introduced me to exercise because I wanted to improve at soccer and lose weight. After reaching that goal, I became fascinated by exercise and how it made me feel. In high school, I became a multiple-time state wrestling champion. I graduated with a 4.0 GPA and a full-ride scholarship to the University of Arizona. I began my fitness career at Bally Total Fitness and became the No. 1 training director among 400 clubs nationwide. I later started Prestige Fitness with my best friend Joe and have since helped transform thousands of lives. Every day is a great day, and I feel very blessed to call Tucson home.

My Education

I graduated from the University of Arizona in 2006 with a Bachelor of Science in Physiology and a minor in Chemistry. Go Cats! I have dedicated my career to the fitness industry.

Community Involvement

As a local business owner, I believe it is important to get involved in the community and help as much as possible. Organizations I have supported include Ronald McDonald House, Angel Charity for Children, the Tucson Museum of Art, Deltas Sorority, and the Salvation Army.

Fun Fact

I speak fluent Assyrian and beat my middle-school teacher at chess when I was 10.

Watching my brother break records in the gym encouraged me to give my best effort to an activity I love, and that journey eventually led me to teach others.

Education

For three years, I studied Early Childhood Education and taught in several schools. I fell in love with teaching, but health concerns arose and I decided to leave the school setting. I then brought that teaching experience into the health and fitness industry.

Why I Got Into Fitness

I always thought of myself as a relatively healthy person, but I never put much thought into exercise or nutrition. As I reached my thirties, I realized that what I saw in the mirror did not reflect how I wanted to feel. I decided to take action and began researching how to build muscle, lose fat, and become fitter. That led me to bodybuilding-style resistance training, a complete overhaul of what I ate, and steady low-intensity cardio. As I progressed, I not only looked better but felt better than ever—and I’m never going back.

How I Got Into Fitness

Fitness has been a major part of my life for decades. My background in the U.S. Air Force taught me discipline, consistency, and the importance of being physically prepared, while rock climbing, strength training, and boxing taught me to appreciate what the human body is capable of. Over time, fitness evolved from something I did into something I wanted to help other people experience. I became a Certified Personal Trainer because I wanted to turn that passion and experience into a career helping people become stronger, more capable, and more confident.
